Richard Clarey is a senior full time pharmacist working for the Inspire Practices. Also available are 2 part time pharmacy technicians and 2 part time pharmacists. Helen McConnachie is the pharmacist manager at Dents chemist at Avenue House. There are 2 regular dispensary assistants and 1 counter assistant.
This team is available for help and advice but do have reviews and appointments in their day so we should not be requesting their URGENT help to bypass the usual appointment systems.

using SystmOnline (this allows you to request advice or a prescription - but you need to have registered by asking the receptionists for a password and providing photo identification)
phoning the surgery (but we are finding phones are often busy and if we learn how to use the one of the options above systems will run more smoothly).

We often hear we could use pharmacists more for medical advice and treatment but we probably are still not using them enough.
With demand for doctor appointments high and phone lines often very busy it would help
everyone if we thought of asking a pharmacist in some situations.

advice on any changes made to medication, pain relief, any questions we have about prescriptions and side effects and advice on a range of minor medical problems.

Disabled access, adjustments can be offered to patients with disabilities to help them take their medicines eg large print labels, tick charts, easy opening caps (an assessment would be made by the Pharmacist first)

How to get our repeat prescriptions ?
Prescription Medicine Order Line 01246 588 860. 8am to 4pm Monday-Friday
one phone call and the call handler can access your records with your permission and
arrange for your prescription to be sent to the pharmacy of your choice.
Paper copy of your prescription - hand this in at the surgery
NHS app
SystmOnline- search Inspire Health Chesterfield to find the home page.Then on prescriptions tab you will see a tab at the top of the page-‘order prescriptions online’.You will have had to previously signed up for this system by asking for a password at reception and shown photo identification.
Out of hours requests
When the surgery/ pharmacy is shut we can phone 111 who can access our record and provide help/advice/medicines if urgent.
Important request from the pharmacists
Please order prescriptions in plenty of time especially when there are postal strikes and busy
periods (bank holidays etc.).
Also there are times when one local pharmacy does not have a stock of a drug. It is OUR
responsibility as patients to phone around and find another local chemist with stock. The
pharmacists can then help by issuing a prescription or an alternative drug.
